Certified Irrigation Installer (CII)

Class includes ALL C.I.I. Courses 1001-1010

Irrigator Tech’s Installation Certificate is designed to teach experienced students the professional techniques to perform and supervise commercial and residential installations. Our complete course instruction and wet lab will provide unparalleled experience to the student. Each course has a lecture followed by a hands-on wet lab. Upon completion of the Certified Irrigation Installer (C.I.I.) classes, students will receive installation certificates valid for one year from course completion. Renewal is required annually to maintain certification.

 

 

Class Descriptions

Course Includes ALL C.I.I. Courses 1001-1010

Class #1001: Certified Irrigation Installer (CII)Wiring & Electrical InstallationThis class is one of the 10 courses designed to meet the needs of the C.I.I. Certification. This class teaches students the skills of installing underground wire and electrical irrigation systems. It includes installation of 110 Volt and 24 Volt assemblies. This class will specifically focus on light commercial use. Total Class Time: 4 hoursClass #1002: Certified Irrigation Installer (CII)Controller Installation & ProgrammingThis class is one of the 10 courses designed to meet the needs of the C.I.I. Certification. This class focuses on the installation of controllers, programming, maintenance, and scheduling for heavy commercial use. It covers the installation of wall mount controllers, pedestal mount controllers via contract pads of VIT Quick Pads, grounding, wiring, and start up of the controller. Installers will learn by practicing on several major brand controllers. Total Class Time: 4 hoursClass #1003: Certified Irrigation Installer (CII)Valve InstallationThis class is one of the 10 courses designed to meet the needs of the C.I.I. Certification. The class will focus on how to install valves and valve boxes. Students will be instructed on mechanical use of the valve and functionality. Students will be required to build valve manifold and describe functions of the valve. Valve will be tested for proper operation. Total Class Time: 4 hoursClass #1004: Certified Irrigation Installer (CII)Sprinkler Heads & Drip Irrigation InstallThis class is one of the 10 courses designed to meet the needs of the C.I.I. Certification. This class teaches the installer the skills to properly install various heads, drip, and retro-fitting for efficient water management. It also covers how to install fixed spray and rotary sprinklers. Additionally students learn to make swing joint assemblies and how to install these pre-manufactured assemblies. Proper spacing, installing sprinklers to grade, and how to install sprinklers on slopes is also emphasized. Students will test actual valves and heads and apply necessary adjustments. Total Class Time: 4 hoursClass #1005: Certified Irrigation Installer (CII)Pipe Fitting & InstallationThis class is one of the 10 courses designed to meet the needs of the C.I.I. Certification. Students will learn how to apply all of the following products: flanges, mechanical joints, PVC fittings, swing joints, C-900 ring type pipe, poly-pipe, and saddles. Curriculum additionally covers proper trenching and installation of underground piping. Applications cover a wide range of sizes and include above and below ground connections (i.e. meter pits, valve boxes, etc.) as well as types of seals and gaskets. An overview of NSF and AWWA standards are also included. Total Class Time: 4 hoursClass #1006: Certified Irrigation Installer (CII)Irrigation Field HydraulicsThis class is one of the 10 courses designed to meet the needs of the C.I.I. Certification. Irrigator Tech’s Irrigation Field Hydraulics is a comprehensive class combining hydraulic principles and irrigation theory. The class is designed to give the installer a thorough understanding of hydraulics, friction loss, pipe sizing, dynamic pressure, and static pressure. Curriculum also includes pipe and head layout, precipitation rates, zoning, and irrigation scheduling. Total Class Time: 4 hoursClass #1007: Certified Irrigation Installer (CII)Master Valve InstallationThis class is one of the 10 courses designed to meet the needs of the C.I.I. Certification. Students will receive various master valves and are required to complete manifold installation. Additionally they will work with the pressure regulating valves, and flow sensors. Installers will go through the major elements of forward and reverse flow valves, electric, NO, NC, manual and hydraulically actuated valves through installation, internal component regulation, and a field diagnosis of the valve. Total Class Time: 4 hoursClass #1008: Certified Irrigation Installer (CII)Understanding Blueprints & LandscapeThis class is one of the 10 courses designed to meet the needs of the C.I.I. Certification. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to read and understand landscape and irrigation drawings, and apply the proper formulas and measurements to the job. Students will be able to identify materials listed on Plan Legends, and develop the skill to create their own Punch Sheet. Total Class Time: 4 hoursClass #1009: Certified Irrigation Installer (CII)Pumps & Pump Systems InstallationThis class is one of the 10 courses designed to meet the needs of the C.I.I. Certification. This class will cover the proper installation, operation, maintenance, and servicing of prefabricated water pumping systems. Students will pay close attention to pump suction, discharge connections, pump foundation, and pump protection. Other topics include: pump curves and performance, safety, power supply issues, overview of controls and interfaces, filtration, station setting, initial start and tuning, the two types of Net Positive Suction Head (NPSHr and NPSHa), and cavitations. Total Class Time: 4 hoursClass #1010: Certified Irrigation Installer (CII)Backflow InstallationThis class is one of the 10 courses designed to meet the needs of the C.I.I. Certification. Students will look at a blueprint detail of a backflow, build the backflow, install the backflow, and ensure it works properly. Students will gain an understanding of when to use various types of backflow, such as Double Check (DC), Pressure Vacuum Breakers (PVB), Anti-Siphon Vacuum Breaker (AVB), and Reduced Pressure (RP). Total Class Time: 4 hoursYearly Renewal:  Certified Irrigation Installer (CII)Certificate Renewal & Test OnlyRenewal course required annually to maintain C.I.I. Certification. This renewal course will cover curriculum from all sections. Students will be required to complete an exam containing questions from each of the 10 installation classes.
